Conducted by SCORE editor Dave Rosen in Key Largo, Florida, May 2001.
This interview appeared in Holiday 2001 SCORE Magazine.
SCORE: We're here with Lorna Morgan in South Florida, but we won't say where. We're in a secret location where we hide all our big-breasted models so that no one can find them.
LORNA: (laughs)
SCORE: We've hidden them well. Lorna, you've been to America several times, haven't you?
LORNA: Yes, this is my third time.
SCORE: And the first time was for?
LORNA: I was on holiday with my family.
SCORE: When was that?
LORNA: When I was 20 years-old [Born February 13th, 1976].
SCORE: And the second time was for Boob Cruise, two years ago.
LORNA: Yes. I cannot believe it was almost two years ago.
SCORE: And your third time is this time. Do you like being in America?
LORNA: Yes, I love it. I like the people. I mean, obviously when I've been here, I've always gone to really nice, beautiful places. I guess because it's so cold where I live [Cardiff, Wales], I love being somewhere really, really warm and very pretty, and where the people are so friendly.
SCORE: Do you consider yourself a beach girl?
LORNA: Yeah, I'm a beach girl. I like the beach and I like the sand. I like to be warm anyway, even if I'm at home, I like to be warm. I like to be dressed up really warm if it's cold or to be in front of the fire.
SCORE: You should have been born here, then.
LORNA: Or at least I should move here.
SCORE: Hey, I have an extra bedroom. I can have you moved in no time at all. But you're very fair-skinned. Do you have trouble being out in the sun for long periods of time?
LORNA: I really don't burn badly because I'm very careful. This is my first tan. This is really dark for me. This is why I'm wearing white, because I want to show it off. (laughs)
SCORE: You were in the Caribbean before, that's correct?
LORNA: Yeah, and I was this colour in the Caribbean.
SCORE: You were that colour of the bathing suit? So no one could tell you were wearing a bathing suit?
LORNA: No! (laughs)
SCORE: That's kind of erotic, to actually see you walking around and no one knows you're wearing a bathing suit.
LORNA: I was so completely reflecting the sun.
SCORE: So this is your first time back since the Boob Cruise. Do you have any special memories of the Cruise?
LORNA: The whole thing. The passengers on the ship and the little stops to all the islands. The day I hosted the video was so much fun because that day we went para-sailing and scuba diving and that was the best. That was amazing. And just generally, dancing at night. The night was my favourite time.
SCORE: How come?
LORNA: Because everybody was just so relaxed. If there were pictures taken, it was because we just wanted to be with people and have a really nice time, you know. Everyone was really relaxed.
SCORE: What were your expectations of the Boob Cruise?
LORNA: I was really nervous. I'd only heard things from Linsey. She told me what it was about and I was a bit worried. I thought it was going to be sort of difficult to be pleasing everybody. But the whole point of the Boob Cruise was that you just go there to have good fun. And it's not fake. And that's exactly what I was doing. I was just having a really good time.
SCORE: But it's really the kind of situation where you're on stage 24 hours a day.
LORNA: It was easy because everyone was so nice. It wasn't difficult to be nice to people who were really nice. There wasn't any reason not to enjoy yourself.
SCORE: But you consider yourself an outgoing person anyway, don't you?
LORNA: I've got my days. But most of the time I want to be around people. I like people.
SCORE: So you enjoyed your day hosting the video?
LORNA: Yeah, it was so much fun. I just didn't know what to do, so I just made it up as I went along, you know, just had a giggle.
SCORE: Have you ever done anything like that before?
LORNA: Yeah, yeah, I did some acting in college and in theatres and on television. That's more playing a part. Doing the Boob Cruise, you just have to be yourself.
SCORE: You said you acted in college and TV also. Can you tell us about that?
LORNA: There's not really much to tell. I did it in college for a while. I like the theatre, but there's not that much money in the theatre, so I tend to do that now only for fun, which is really nice.
SCORE: What college did you go to?
LORNA: One in Wales. I went to the drama college there.
SCORE: So when you got out of college, what did you do then?
LORNA: I had an agent, so I worked for a while. And it was funny because she was the one who kept telling me I should do glamour pictures, so she said, "Oh, you should really show your boobs. They're huge! Come on, take them out for the boys."
SCORE: Was this a female agent or a male agent?
LORNA: A female agent.
SCORE: So when she said glamour modelling, she meant nude modelling.
LORNA: Yes. She meant topless and nude.
SCORE: And what was your reaction to that?
LORNA: I was nervous, I was like, "Oh, I'll let you know." I had taken my clothes off, but that was artist modelling when I was a student.
SCORE: The still stuff?
LORNA: Yeah, the still stuff where they paint you or they sketch you. But you have to be really still. You can't move. You have to be quiet and there's 15 people in the room drawing you. It's a completely different thing than being with a guy who's like, "Yeah, baby, smile for me, baby," and all that "baby" stuff. (laughs)
SCORE: So this was in college or after college when you were doing this modelling?
LORNA: This was during college when I needed some money to be able to live.
SCORE: Did you ever see the drawings of yourself?
LORNA: I kept one. Some people were learning so sometimes the sketches didn't really look like much. And sometimes they looked really clever, depending on who was doing it. I kept one because it was of my bum [ass: British expression].
SCORE: Really?
LORNA: Yeah, it was a really nice one of my bum.
SCORE: Just of your bum? That was it?
LORNA: Yeah.
SCORE: So the only person who would know that was you was you and the person who drew it.
LORNA: That's right, unless somebody has it memorised.
SCORE: Which wouldn't be out of the question. I guess there were men who were drawing you in these classes.
LORNA: Yeah, there were men, but there were also women, teenagers, older people. Everybody was learning.
SCORE: Did you find at all that men or teenagers would draw one part of your body more than others? That they would draw your breasts larger than they really were? Or just concentrate on one part of your body?
LORNA: Sometimes they were told they had to concentrate on certain parts of the body, but most of the time they would just draw everything. There was one guy there who had a thing for drawing feet and legs. Even during breaks when he didn't need to sketch anything, he would just do a couple of really quick sketches of my feet and legs.
SCORE: Ah, a Leg Sex guy. Now, you said before that you've been on TV.
LORNA: I've been in films and on television programs, and I've been in plays more than I've done TV and film. For TV, I had to play a glamour model, so there was a bit of typecasting.
SCORE: Was this a TV show?
LORNA: It was a mini-soap opera. I wasn't one of the standard characters.
SCORE: When was this?
LORNA: That was about a year ago.
SCORE: Oh, so you're still doing this stuff, then?
LORNA: Yeah.
SCORE: Besides modelling, what do you do now for a living?
LORNA: I'm a television and film casting agent. I also get modelling jobs for children.
SCORE: Is this something you enjoy quite a bit?
LORNA: I do, and I've been doing that longer than I've been modelling. That came first and modelling came second.
SCORE: How did you get into modelling?
LORNA: Well, my agent, who's a friend of mine, suggested I have a go. But she wasn't an agent for
glamour modelling, so she gave me the phone number of an agency in London. I went to London with a couple of snapshots of me, just topless. And when I got there, they just asked me to do a few shots and they signed me up straight away. Within about two weeks, I had a photo shoot with a photographer in London. And that was just so much fun. I really enjoyed it. But I didn't continue modelling for very long. I only modelled for a couple of months, and then I stopped. I stopped for about two years, then I started back up again.
SCORE: Why did you stop?
LORNA: I just didn't think it was the right time for me. I didn't want to be pressured into doing things I didn't want to do. At the time, I wasn't confident enough to be able to say no to some people, so I just said no to everybody. That's when I decided not to do it anymore.
SCORE: So you would say you're a more confident person now than you were two or three years ago?
LORNA: Yeah.
SCORE: Why is that?
LORNA: I'm more experienced, and as you get older, your experiences change you and you just look at things in a different way. And I'm not so embarrassed about my body. I used to not like my body. Now I'm more confident with it.
SCORE: When you said you didn't like your body, was this as a teenager? Was this even when you became an adult?
LORNA: Yeah. I didn't like my boobs.
SCORE: Are you kidding? How can that be?
LORNA: I just saw them as something that held me back. I thought they were too big.
SCORE: Too big? Lorna, they're perfect! You didn't consider a reduction at any point, did you?
LORNA: Yeah. I did.
SCORE: And, thank the Lord, you decided not to. For what historic reason did you decide not to?
LORNA: I was in college when I changed my mind.
SCORE: Ah, so they are teaching young people common sense at our colleges and universities.
LORNA: I realized that I was very young and that I might be doing something I'd regret later. And that I could always do it later if I wanted to. Just growing up, you stop caring so much about what other people think.
SCORE: So people would look at your chest first, then your face second.
LORNA: Yeah, the boobs, then the rest of you.
SCORE: Horrible! I just can't imagine! So when did you start developing?
LORNA: I was very young. I was only about eight years old when I first developed my first little bumps.
SCORE: Really, that's very young.
LORNA: Yeah, I mean, it wasn't obvious until I was about 10.
SCORE: Obvious, meaning?
LORNA: That you could really see them in clothes.
SCORE: So you were in about fourth grade then, I would think.
LORNA: Yeah, I think so.
SCORE: So you probably stood out in your class.
LORNA: Yeah, it was me and another girl that were wearing bras. Everyone else was in vests and we had bras. And the guys thought it was really amusing to snap the straps and poke us.
SCORE: You didn't find that amusing, did you? Especially pulling the straps.
LORNA: No, the poking was worse because it hurts.
SCORE: So the little boys would just go up to you and poke you.
LORNA: Yeah, basically.
SCORE: Amazing what little boys will do.
LORNA: Little boys are terrible!
SCORE: So then you just kept on growing.
LORNA: Yeah, they just kept getting bigger. I think I went up a cup size last year.
SCORE: Did you really? So as you were growing, I guess by the way you're speaking that you dressed to hide your breasts.
LORNA: Yes, I do.
SCORE: I mean back then.
LORNA: Yes, I do now, also. When I go out with my friends at night and we're having a really good time, we'll dress in low-cut tops. Or we'll say, "Are we being tarts tonight or are we going to go sensible? Are we going to be dirty birds?" And then we'll decide whether we're going to wear something low and tight. But in the day, I don't wear anything too obvious.
SCORE: Business suits?
LORNA: Yeah, a suit or a dress.
SCORE: So you ended up going to college and you're starting to feel self-conscious about yourself...?
LORNA: I think college helped me be less self-conscious. The thing about being in an acting course is that you're able to look at yourself from a distance and try to see what other people see. And you become less focused on the physical side of things.
SCORE: Would you describe yourself as more content?
LORNA: Much more.
SCORE: Has modelling contributed to that at all?
LORNA: Yes. It's flattering to be told you're sexy all the time. And I dance, so when I'm dancing and I'm in a club, and it's really quiet and there's nobody there, it's okay. But when it's full and it's packed, and once the guys start saying nice things, I'm happy.
SCORE: So you're a sucker for a sweet-talker, then.
LORNA: Yeah, I am. (laughs) For a gentleman.
SCORE: But even during your self-conscious phase, men must have complimented you left and right.
LORNA: Yeah, they did, but I never really took it as a compliment.
SCORE: You say that you don't always show off your body during the day time.
LORNA: Unless I'm feeling like I really need to feel sexy for some reason.
SCORE: What's the best part about being a model?
LORNA: Getting to come to places like this.
SCORE: What's the worst part?
LORNA: The worst part... I don't know. Sometimes you have to say no to things, or choose between two things...
SCORE: When you're out, do people know who you are?
LORNA: That depends on where I go. When I'm at home, yes, some people do know me because I dance as well as model. But it's a select few, and although some do, they don't always come up to you. But I've been out with some of my friends, and, because I'm in my local newspapers a lot, people will say, "Oh, you're Lorna Morgan, aren't you?"
SCORE: Have you ever been in the papers in London?
LORNA: Oh yeah, a few times. Usually in one of the Page Three type things, like the Sunday Sport.
SCORE: Are you ever recognised in London?
LORNA: Yes. Recently when I was in London, this guy asked his little boy to come up and ask me for my autograph.
SCORE: How old was the little boy?
LORNA: He was about 10.
SCORE: That's a young fan.
LORNA: I don't think he knew who I was. I think his dad was embarrassed to ask me personally.
SCORE: So he sends his 10-year-old kid.
LORNA: Yeah, his 10-year-old kid said, "My dad wants you to sign this."
SCORE: I've heard of guys using their dogs to attract attention from women, but not their little kids.
LORNA: Puppies and kittens. That'll do it for me.
SCORE: Let's go back to the clubs for a few minutes. We SCORE guys like it there. You say you still dance. How often?
LORNA: Three or four times a week. I try to make it about three, but I tend to end up doing four.
SCORE: Do you dance all over England?
LORNA: No, just the town I'm in.
SCORE: And is there table dancing or lap dancing?
LORNA: Lap dancing. There's a meter rule.
SCORE: Oh, so there's a demilitarised zone where the guy can't come near you. Kind of like the three-foot rule that they have now at the clubs in Tampa.
LORNA: Yeah, like that.
SCORE: So what do you like to do when you're giving a lap dance?
LORNA: You have to be sexy. You have to look in the guy's eyes and you have to obviously strip everything off. Sometimes I like to know what the guy likes the most. Sometimes they'll tell you, "Well, I really like bums or boobs." And some guys just like to look at your face which is nice. (giggles) And yeah, I try to find out what they like and I concentrate more on the things they like.
SCORE: So you track their eye movement?
